Oscilloscope Counter Timer
How to make an exact 1 sec of pulse clock and point ten of a sec pulse clock?
I want to build and understand a digital clock, any suggestion comment reaction please post.
Any electronic component that is not expensive available in the common electric and electronic shop.
I already made one but that is not exact because I don't know the formula work and I don't have frequency counter or oscilloscope to measure.
I used a 74ls47, 74lsa192 and a 555 timer I.C. and in that timer I got confused, my instructor told me that I can use a crystal 1 Megahertz to produce and fasten the pulse, can someone help me out or send me a link bout this. Co'z I've serch the net but nothing gives me what I want exactly explanation and easy to understand.

A 555 timer is not very accurate. You need a crystal oscillator and a counter chain to divide the MHz from the crystal down to 1 Hz. For maximum accuracy get a good crystal oscillator, they have specs on accuracy, drift versus time and jitter, get one with good numbers.
One cheap path is to get a $10 clock, the battery operated kind with hands, and rip out the electronics.
Or you can buy a 1MHz crystal oscillator, see link, then build a counter chain to divide that by 1 million. The 74LS90 does a divide by 10, so 6 of those will work, although there are simpler ways.
