Help with drum triggering please!?

I want to do a drum solo like Akira Jimbo (http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=OVlpueHo4ok) and I have an electric drum set, and a drum module (Roland TD-3) that has a midi output. I'm wondering what sort of software I'll need to make synth samples play when I hit the electronic pads. Any suggestions?

I'm not very familiar with Roland but it would seem like you could just hook it up to your computer and load the samples into the module and program the pads from there. Check your manual for info also.
