Dual Channel questions?

I am considering getting 2 new 1 gb PC2700 ram cards. I currently have 2 512 ddr ram cards. I would like to use all of them because I have four slots, but I want to make use of dual channel. Does it work 2x(2 cards of one type 2 cards of a different type?). I had heard it works this way as long as the ram run at the same speed, is this true? Can they run at different speeds and still be Dual channel(2 PC2700 1 GB cards and 2 different speed 512 MB cards)

What speed are your 512mb sticks? If they are also PC2700, then you are OK. If the 512mb sticks are a faster speed, then they will clock down to the PC2700 speed. The system will run at the lowest speed of any stick of RAM. The amount of RAM (1Gb or 512mb) does not matter.
