Display Scopes Free
Is there some kind of freeware that lets me customize the looks and parts of a rifle b4 i buy it?
Need free software to simulate a custom rifle b4 i go out and spend lots of money, only to find out that its crap.
Example: select internal parts >>> display the statistics of the shots fired. ( FPS, trajectory, range, etc.)
Select External parts: Display a picture of how the rifle looks. ( stock color, barrel color, shape of scope, accurate scale-size of parts selected, etc. )
Also display Estimated price of customized gun. (optional)
Anywhere I can get something like that? Needs to be free-ware.
Guns are not video games.
The components have too many variables, it is not like adding a custom exhaust to a car (and even those figures are approximate) because the actual total performance is not just the sum of the parts, but the micro tolerances, and finally the human ingredient of the guy who builds the thing.
If there were one surefire way to make everything so uniform that things were variation free, your software idea would have merit. Problem is even the highest quality barrel makers have distinct variations of every thing they make WITHIN the same batch. out 0f 100 30-06 barrels built the smae way, and mated to the same exact CNC machined receivers, etc, you will find wide variations in muzzle velocity, certain barrels will shoot certain bullets better, etc.
Now, for going out an d making sure your gun matches your purse.. I am sure Brownell's catalog is plenty. For the real shooting details, that requires real shooting. And PS, if you can afford to build a custom rifle, you can afford to buy software.
